What is hole-in-one coverage, and who can purchase it?
Hole-in-one insurance, also called golf event coverage or prize indemnity insurance, protects against the cost of awarding a prize if a golfer makes a hole-in-one on a designated par-3 during a covered tournament. Any individual, company, charity, or organization can purchase a hole-in-one insurance policy for their event.
What information do I need to get a quote?
To calculate hole-in-one insurance rates, CGA requires:
Number of participants (amateur or professional)
The par-3 yardage for the prize hole
The value of the prize being offered
What is the minimum yardage requirement?
CGA requires that the prize hole use the official scorecard yardage. The minimum yardage is:
Target prize hole: 135 yards (men and women)
Additional prize holes: 135 yards for men, 120 yards for women
Courses may extend tees to meet requirements. Women may play from their own tees if within 30 yards of the men’s tees, provided the minimum yardage is met.
Can I Customize My Insurance Package?
Absolutely! We offer flexible packages that can be tailored to fit your specific event requirements, including prize value and field size.
What does a hole-in-one package include?
Each CGA hole-in-one insurance package includes:
Coverage for your main target-hole prize
Up to 3 free additional prize packages for other par-3s
Custom full-color signage (18” x 24” with stakes) for the target and prize holes
Sponsor branding may be added to additional prize signs for a small fee.
Is the premium reduced if I decline the extra prizes?
No. The additional prizes are complimentary, courtesy of CGA sponsors, and do not affect your premium.
How far in advance must coverage be secured to receive signage?
Contracts must be finalized at least five days before the tournament to guarantee delivery of signs. For last-minute events, signage can be provided if the organizer supplies a shipping number. CGA is not responsible for delayed signage on last-minute orders.
What happens if my tournament is rained out?
If no shots are taken on the prize hole, you may request a refund when play is canceled due to inclement weather. Tournaments may also be rescheduled at no charge. A $75 fee applies if a tournament is canceled and not rescheduled, covering administrative and shipping costs. Weather-related changes must be reported prior to the start of the event.
How are hole-in-one claims processed?
CGA must be notified of a claim within 24 hours (or the next business day). A one-page claim form will be provided. The claim review begins once all required documentation is received.
What are the witness requirements for a hole-in-one claim?
Independent, non-participating witnesses (age 18+) are required at the green. Requirements vary by prize value:
$1,000–$19,999: One witness
$20,000–$49,999: Two witnesses
$50,000–$99,999: Two witnesses, one a PGA-certified golf professional
$100,000–$1,000,000: Two witnesses including a PGA professional, plus a continuous video recording
